- other modems,
- "especially my ISP, which uses PPI Proclass V.34 Modems. I
- normally run Win95
- "for my Internet stuff, so I use the Built In Microsoft
- Dialer for my PPP

- "1) Will not negotiate Carrier.
- "2) Carrier Loop (Doesn't Negotiate)
- "3) Carrier Loop
- "4) Carrier Loop
- "5) Connects at 12000, then disconnects
- "6) Connect 16800, and bad lag
- "7) Carrier Loop
- "8) Connect 14400
- "9) Connect 19200
- "10) Connect 24000

- "On a GOOD Day, sometimes I might be able to connect between
- 21.6 and 26.4, I

- replaced the ROM to
- "update to current 1.63, and even got a new cable (This is

- "I live in a BRAND NEW Apartment Community, so I am sure the

- have finally had
- "enough of it to bring it to someone else's attention, to
- see maybe if someone
- "has had the same problem, or perhaps has a solution. Pretty
- much the same
- "problems persist regardless of what software platform I
- use. I have a Pentium
- "100 system with Integrated High Speed I/O, FDD&HDD
- Controllers, etc...this
- "problem happened back when I had a 486 as well. Does anyone
- have any
- "suggestions on this one?

- Sure. Substitute a borrowed modem without changing anything
- else and see if the problems you've described persist. If
- so, you owe PPI a public apology. If not, let us know what
- your init string is and we'll try to get it straight for you
- without all the wailing and knashing of teeth. Sheesh!
